Ford Escort RS2000 SIerra cortina Type E 4 Speed Gearbox fully refurbished

  
Ford Type E 4 speed gearbox as fitted to the Escort RS2000, Cortina 2.0 Capri 2.0 Sierra 2.0. This is a rare gearbox as it was fitted to the Sier ra in it's first year before they used the 5 speed type 9. Because of this it has the type 9 3 bolt fixing for the gear lever which is far better than the old screw in type that often get cross threaded. It also has the latter 3rd4th gear hub and the bronze selector forks similar to the type 9, yet it has exactly the same ratios as the standard RS2000 or 2 litre cortina etc and will fit in the same mounting as any other Type E gearbox. 1st 3.65, 2nd 1.97, 3rd 1.37, 4th 1:1.

All bearings replaced with new. All syncro rings checked and replaced if needed and no chipped or broken gear teeth.

All new gaskets and seals fitted. (If you have a Ford Type 9 type E or Type 3 gearbox you require rebuilding for any reason please contact me for a quote). All turns smoothly in all gears.

Tidied it up ready for use. The gear selection is really nice and everything turns freely. No reverse light switch but if you need one let me know and I'll put one in. I will post to Scottish Highlands and Islands.

Actual gearbox is shown in the photo's. Note: the tail housing casting is quite uneven in places but is all solid and no cracks. I'm an oldish semi-retired guy and do this "gearboxing"from home as a bit of fun as I enjoy doing it plus it keep's me in the garage out of the way of my beautiful wife.
